The gospel lesson is the story of Jesus walking over the sea of Galilee to join the disciples on the storm-tossed boat. The reading from Genesis is the story of Joseph (of the Technicolor Dream Coat) being betrayed by his jealous brothers. The Psalm celebrates the way God turned bad into good, by providing, through Joseph's exile in Egypt, a way to save his father and brothers and all their families from the famine in the land of Canaan.
